JD is in his final year pursuing a Masters of Science in clinical mental health counseling at Milligan College. He holds a Bachelors of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies. JD serves children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. He also is passionate about group therapy.
JD’s approach to counseling is based in authenticity. He believes that if we each explore ourselves and our experiences with a trusted guide in the form of a counselor we can increase our self awareness and with that have agency in the world. JD hopes to create an environment of grace where people can be who they are while also having the freedom and empowerment to choose who they become. He fosters this space with his kindness, wit, and by being authentic himself.
There are several themes of scripture that inform JD’s work as a counselor, but none are more important to him than the power of the incarnation. JD believes that because God is with us, in our brokenness and struggle, we can now enter into abundant life. He hopes to offer a therapeutic relationship that mirrors this "being with" and "moving toward" abundant Life.
